Gutter Cleaning & Repair in El Paso, TX

El Paso doesn't get much rain, but when it comes it often comes all at once. The summer monsoon, roughly July through September, brings thunderstorms that can dump an inch or more in under an hour, and that water has to go somewhere fast. Many El Paso homes don't have traditional gutters at all; flat and low-slope roofs drain through scuppers and canales that poke through the parapet walls, while pitched roofs on newer and older homes alike may have gutters along some or all edges. All of them clog with the same things: wind-blown dust and sand, leaves from mulberry, ash and cottonwood trees, nests, and the occasional tumbleweed lodged on the roof after a spring wind storm.

We clear gutters, scuppers and canales by hand, flush downspouts to make sure they flow, and check that water discharges onto splash blocks or extensions that carry it away from stucco and the foundation. We reattach loose gutter sections and brackets, reseal leaking seams and end caps, and adjust pitch where water pools. On flat roofs we clear the drains and report on obvious coating problems around the parapet and cooler, without walking soft or damaged roof areas. We bag the debris and clean up the ground below before we leave.

What this covers

  • Gutter cleaning and debris removal
  • Roof scupper and canale clearing
  • Downspout flushing and unclogging
  • Loose gutter and bracket reattachment
  • Seam and end-cap resealing
  • Pitch adjustment to stop pooling
  • Splash blocks and downspout extensions
  • Roof-edge check with photos
A note from around here: Pueblo Revival and flat-roofed homes in Kern Place, Sunset Heights and the Lower Valley drain through scuppers and canales, while pitched-roof homes in the Upper Valley collect leaves from big cottonwoods and pecan trees.

How a gutter cleaning & repair visit usually goes

Safe Access

We set ladders on stable footing, check the roof edge and parapets, and plan access that doesn't put weight on soft or damaged roof areas.

Clear Everything

We remove debris from gutters, scuppers and canales by hand, bag it, and flush downspouts until water flows freely.

Repair and Adjust

We reattach loose sections and brackets, reseal leaking seams and end caps, and adjust pitch so water doesn't sit.

Direct the Water

We make sure downspouts and canales discharge onto splash blocks or extensions that carry water away from stucco and the foundation, then clean up below.

One problem we see often in El Paso is water discharging directly against the house. Canales and short downspouts drop roof water right at the base of a stucco wall, and over time that splashback stains and softens the stucco, washes out soil, and can let water reach the foundation. On expansive or caliche soils, repeated soaking in one spot can contribute to settling cracks inside. Simple fixes like splash blocks, longer downspout extensions or a small gravel bed under a canale make a big difference. We'll point out where water is landing and suggest the simplest way to move it away from the wall.

What shapes the price in El Paso

The cost of gutter work depends on the length of the gutters, the height of the house, how many scuppers and canales need clearing, and how much debris has built up. Two-story homes and steep roof edges take more setup and time. Heavily packed gutters under big trees take longer than a light dust cleanout. Repairs like resealing seams, replacing brackets or adding downspout extensions add materials. Pairing gutter work with other exterior tasks, like pressure washing or a seasonal maintenance visit, makes the most of the trip.

Neighbors often ask

My house doesn't have gutters — do I still need this?

Probably, if you have a flat or low-slope roof. Those roofs drain through scuppers or canales in the parapet walls, and when those clog with dust, leaves or debris, water pools on the roof and can work its way through the coating into the ceiling below. Clearing them before monsoon season is one of the best ways to prevent summer roof leaks.

When is the best time to clean gutters in El Paso?

Late June, before the monsoon storms begin, is the most important time. A second cleaning in late fall, after the trees drop their leaves, is helpful if you have big trees nearby. After a big spring wind storm, it's also worth checking for tumbleweeds and debris blown onto the roof.

Can you fix a gutter that's pulling away from the house?

Usually, yes. Gutters pull away when brackets loosen, the fascia behind them softens, or they've been overloaded with debris and water. We reattach them with new hangers screwed into solid wood and reset the pitch. If the fascia board is rotted, we'll show you, and we can replace short sections and quote longer runs of fascia separately.

Do you install gutter guards?

We can install gutter guards on existing gutters. In El Paso, fine dust and sand can still settle on and under some guards, so they reduce cleaning rather than eliminate it. For homes surrounded by big trees, guards can still be worth it. We'll talk through the options and what they'll realistically do.

Will you go on my flat roof?

Only where it's safe and the roof can take the weight. Flat roofs with an elastomeric coating or older built-up surfaces can be damaged by careless foot traffic, so we walk carefully along the edges to clear scuppers and drains and avoid soft spots. If we see blistering, cracks or a damaged coating, we'll take photos and recommend a roofer.
